Too often mainstream news reports of political meetings are boring, colorless recitations that quickly drive readers to the next story.
But Jon Cassidy at The Orange County Register recently demonstrated that this sad state of affairs doesn't always have to be the case.
]
“The 80 or so people who came to the first meeting of the Costa Mesa Taxpayers Association at Skosh Monahan's in Costa Mesa were told that the group would be non-partisan,” Cassidy wrote. “Anyone concerned that capital improvements in Costa Mesa had been slashed by 82 percent in two years was welcomed, co-founder Ethan Temianka said Thursday night.”
Then came the priceless line that so many mainstream journalists in Orange County would have been afraid to publish:
“But somebody forgot to tell Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, who combined several Glenn Beck theories into a rant against Marxist Barack Obama who's a pawn of British Petroleum doing the bidding of George Soros.”
Damn, that's good stuff.
