Protest Planned For Candidate Excluded From Sanchez-Tran Debate

Nowadays, even arranging a debate involving Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is controversial.

Orange Juice blog is reporting that “supporters of independent congressional candidate Cecilia Iglesias are up in arms” about KOCE-TV's decision to exclude Iglesias from next week's debate.

The blog post, written by Santa Ana political activist and school board candidate Art Pedroza, encourages people to protest at the station's Huntington Beach headquarters and send e-mails to KOCE officials including Ed Arnold, who is expected to moderate the debate presently set between Sanchez and her Republican challenger Van Tran.

Polling has shown that Tran, a Little Saigon state assemblyman, is within the margin of error of pulling a shocking upset.
Iglesias, a newcomer to politics, doesn't yet factor in any polling and Sanchez's supporters have suggested she is a fake candidate planted by clever Republicans to suppress Latino votes from Sanchez in what could be Orange County's closest election contest on November 2.
Pedroza disagrees, writing, “Let our voices be heard . . . Send a message to TranChez . . . Remind KOCE we pay for their public radio [sic] . . . Show your support for [Iglesias].”
In announcing the debate, KOCE officials did not mention Iglesias.
