Orange County Drug Dealers Win Lengthy Prison Trips in Federal Court

Two Orange County heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine drug dealers have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms this month inside the Ronald Reagan Federal Courthouse in Santa Ana.

U.S. District Court Judge James V. Selna sentenced Michael Wayne Ward–a 36-year-old member of the Eastside criminal street gang who has enjoyed 10 convictions since 1995–to a 92-month term and five years of supervised probation upon his return to society.

Selna also punished Wali Fazal–a 30-year-old man with 17 arrests and six convictions in the last decade–with a 58-month prison trip and five years of supervised probation. Incarceration records show he is presently “in transit” to a federal prison.
Both Ward and Fazal initially denied guilt but eventually signed plea bargains admitting they sold large amounts of drugs on the street in exchange for prosecutors reducing charges.
Ward is currently serving an eight-year term inside Wasco State Prison on gang, gun and street terrorism convictions previously won by the Orange County District Attorney's office.
Selna agreed to run the federal punishment concurrently with Ward's state prison term.
