OC Skateboarding League Banquet Doubling As a Fundraising Dinner

Year one of the Orange County Skateboarding League is completed. The contests are completed, the judges scores have been tallied and all that remains is an end-of-season banquet to celebrate the top performers.

And hopefully the OCSL can make a little extra money to keep it all going.
On Thursday, July 21, the 250 competitors from 20 schools, parents and supporters of the league will be at the Los Caballeros Racquet & Health Club in Fountain Valley for the banquet, and word has it that there may or may not be some big name pro skateboarders in attendance as well. (The rumor mill is a wonderful thing.)

OCSL was founded last year by Katrina Foley, a Newport-Mesa Unified School District trustee, who was just looking for a competitive outlet for her son. What it eventually became was much more than initially expected.

Foley and the OCSL board of directors is hoping to raise $10,000 to continue to expand the league in the coming years. The banquet will feature a dinner, a silent auction, some high-octane skate videos and the aforementioned (yet to be named) industry pros.
The banquet begins at 6 p.m. and is $25 per person, though larger donations are most certainly accepted and probably appreciated.
