In the weekend battle of Orange County prep quarterback legends, Mark Sanchez outdueled Carson Palmer as the Mission Viejo High grad's New York Jets defeated the Santa Margarita High alum's Cincinnati Bengals, 24-14. Meanwhile, their fellow Trojan Matt Leinart, remained on the sidelines while his team, the Arizona Cardinals, advanced in the playoffs. And even he did better than Tom Brady.
The strong showing of OC-bred quarterbacks reminded me anew of the county's long reputation for producing college-worthy quarterbacks the way Mater Dei produces pedophiles. Which got me thinking and researching and reading to this: name two quarterbacks who played at Orange County high schools to earn a Super Bowl ring. First person to name the two in the same comment wins a $20 gift certificate to TK Burgers or something like that.
