If the charges against the Hurtado siblings stick, they will be holding their future family reunions in prison.
Today, Ilene Irene Hurtado, 27, of Anaheim, was arraigned on charges of murder and assault on a child with force likely to produce great bodily injury resulting in death. The victim: her 23-month-old nephew, Dartanian Hurtado, whose mother Noel Lynn Hurtado, 25, and uncle Timothy Seymour Hurtado, 19, also of Anaheim, have been charged with the same counts as Illene.
As the Orange County District Attorney's Office statement on the next page shows, each Hurtado faces up to 25 years to life in state prison if convicted.

AUNT TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR MURDERING SISTER'S BABY BOY AFTER INFLICTING REPEATED INJURIES TO THE HEAD

SANTA ANA -A maternal aunt will be arraigned Monday for murdering her sister's baby boy after inflicting repeated injuries to the head. The defendant's sister and brother are also charged in this case. Ilene Irene Hurtado, 27, Anaheim, is charged with one felony count of murder and one felony count of assault on a child with force likely to produce great bodily injury resulting in death. Noel Lynn Hurtado, 25, and brother Timothy Seymour Hurtado, 19, both of Anaheim, were charged with the same counts on Nov. 19, 2010. Timothy Hurtado was 16 years old at the time and was direct filed as an adult. If convicted, the defendants face a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. Ilene Hurtado is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is be determined. Noel Hurtado and Timothy Hurtado are being held without bail and are scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 10, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. in Department CJ-1.On Aug. 16, 2007, Noel Hurtado and Ilene Hurtado are accused of taking Noel Hurtado's 23-month-old son, Dartanian Hurtado, to Anaheim Memorial Hospital. The victim was already deceased when doctors examined him. It was determined that the victim had died due to brain swelling caused by chronic injury to the head. The Anaheim Police Department began an investigation into the baby's death.
On Nov. 19, 2010, Noel and Timothy Hurtado were arrested by police after being linked to the baby's murder. Ilene Hurtado was arrested yesterday, Dec. 2, 2010.
Due to the ongoing investigation of this case, the Orange County District Attorney's Office (OCDA) will not publish any further information at this time.
