New York Sexual Predator Fugitive Who Targets Underage Girls Is Captured In Orange County

In February 2010, 18-year-old Johnny Cazares-Torijano had sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl in Orange County, New York, and received punishment of probation plus mandatory sex offender registration requirements for 20 years.

Precisely a year later, New York police caught Cazares-Torijano alone in a motel room with a 16-year-old girl.

While court officials prepared to revoke his probation and place him in jail, the remorseless sex offender walked out of the courthouse and became a fugitive for more than three years until authorities received a tip of his whereabouts: Orange County, California.

On April 29, members of a fugitive task force involving the U.S. Marshal's office, California Department of Justice, California Department of Corrections, Santa Ana Police Department, Anaheim Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff's Department arrived at a Westminster home where the wanted man had been renting a room for two months.

A U.S. Marshal filed a failure to obey sex registration charge inside the Ronald Reagan Federal Courthouse in Santa Ana and is retaining no-bail custody of Cazares-Torijano, who was born in 1991.

A federal magistrate judge scheduled a May 27 preliminary hearing.
