Sims resides in Brea, where police began investigating a report that she had been involved in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy, according to police Lt. Darrin Devereux. Detectives arrested her about 11 a.m. at Parks Junior High School in Fullerton, where she works as a special education teacher, added Devereux, who explained the boy is not a student there.
"With this unfortunate situation, Fullerton School District is committed to answering any and all concerns within the community," states the district in a statement sent to parents. "Student safety is the primary concern of the district. The Fullerton School District will continue to do everything within its power to ensure its community--students, parents, faculty and staff--have the resources necessary to uphold a higher standard. Nothing less is acceptable."
The district says Sims was placed on administrative leave. Booked at the Brea City Jail, she was released after posting a $50,000 bond. Meanwhile, police are trying to determine whether there are other victims, according to Devereux.
