The family of a teenage boy who claims his eighth-grade math teacher sexually assaulted him is suing the Fullerton Elementary School District. Melissa Nicole Lindgren, who taught at Nicolas Junior High School, already pleaded not guilty to 10 felony counts in criminal court that include lewd acts on a child under 14 and distributing pornography to a minor for allegedly molesting three male students on and off campus. On Dec. 30, the mother of one of the boys filed a lawsuit in civil court that claims school officials failed to investigate multiple complaints about inappropriate behavior by Lindgren, who was fired in April.
A Los Angeles police officer pleaded not guilty last week to exposing himself to four women and a 12-year-old girl in a Huntington Beach nature preserve last year. Ryan Eric Galliher, who is due back in court on Feb. 10, faces lewd acts and indecent exposure counts that could send him to state prison for four years with a conviction. The 33-year-old is currently free on $100,000 bail. Galliher was wearing only tennis shoes when he exposed himself to a 43-year-old woman in the wetlands area, according to police investigators, who note his other victims ranges in age from 12 to 80. Galliher exposed himself twice to the girl, on Feb. 27 and March 10, police say. Hired by the LAPD in 2011 and previously assigned to the Southwest Station, he is assigned to his home near the nature preserve pending the outcome of the case.

A 29-year-old mechanic who has been a fugitive on a $3 million warrant for a decade-old child molestation case out of Riverside County was arrested last week hiding out in Santa Ana, according to investigators. Riverside County fugitive apprehension deputies arrested Eddrans Ortega-Hernandez after he left a home in the 1100 block of Arapaho Street the evening of Jan. 5. He is charged with four counts of lewd acts with a child under 14 for crimes that are alleged to have happened to two victims in Moreno Valley from 2004 to 2008. Ortega-Hernandez also had a no-bail warrant out of Orange County for drug possession, according to authorities.
