Miguel Angel Guerrero got into a dispute with Javier Rodriguez Preciado around 1:45 p.m. Sunday night, grabbed a knife and stabbed the older man in the head and neck before fleeing the home, alleges a joint statement from the Santa Ana Police Department and Orange County District Attorney's office.
Paramedics arrived at the home but pronounced Preciado dead. Guerrero was arrested around 5:25 p.m. when he returned near the home, where police were already investigating.
He is charged with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a knife, and a conviction could send him to state prison for 26 years to life.
The DA's office says it will request Guerrero be held on $1 million bail at his arraignment some time today.
