Mexican Haters to Join Illegals Lovers Outside Gates Leading Into Tonight's All-Star Game
The Mexican wrote here about the protest before tonight's All-Star Game at Angel Stadium by folks who want the next Midsummer Classic moved out of Arizona because of the immigrant-targeting SB 1070 legislation.
Looks like those protesters are going to have mucho company.
No, that's not a reference to Anaheim's bragged-about police presence-on-steroids, which features several local, state and federal law enforcement agencies keeping the peace at the Big A.
An hour before the scheduled 3 p.m. start time of the boycott Arizona protest at the stadium's main entrance, members of the anti-immigrant, Huntington Beach-based California Coalition for Immigration Reform (CCIR) plan to mosey on up to the same spot.

These are the local 'necks who traveled to Arizona last month for the pro-Arizona "buycott" rallies to counter the boycott Arizona supporters. So it's kind of like a family reunion for activists on both sides! It brings to mind the fox and the dog who guards the hen house clocking in from those old Looney Tunes cartoons.
Speaking of cartoons, if CCIR fuhrer Barbara Coe (shown opening this post) is on hand--and all indications are she will be as she's never met a media spectacle she didn't exploit--it will represent something of a homecoming.
She began her hate-mongering career in Anaheim as a police clerk who used the department's cameras to shoot people she suspected on being in the country illegally.
Ah, sweet memories!
She's coming home thanks to the national movement known as MoveTheGame.org, which has coordinated several rallies across the country to protest SB 1070 and call for moving the 2011 All-Star game out of Phoenix. That's included tailing the Arizona Diamondbacks from ballpark to ballpark because their owner funds the Republicans who supported the controversial Arizona law.
As Gustavo previously reported, the Facebook page "Move the 2011 All Star Game out of Arizona" detailed plans for today's 3 p.m. protest just outside the State College Boulevard. gates.
Planning to join organizers are representatives of the Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights of Los Angeles, Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice, Orange County Dream Team and Orange County Labor Federation, the Orange County Register has reported.
It remains what will come out of all this holler--other than blog posts and Eyewitness News time--because baseball commissioner Bud Selig has already said the 2011 game ain't budging.
