Perhaps an indicator that an Orange County immigrant community has finally made it is when some members join the casts of network television reality shows--within weeks of one another. Previously we told you about Bri Nguyen of Westminster being part of the new Fox reality show Utopia that debuts Friday night. A Tustin couple who hail from the Vietnamese American and Cambodian American communities will be contestants on The Amazing Race, the perennial Emmy winner that starts its 25th season on CBS Sept. 26.
Dennis Hour is Cambodian American but was born in Thailand after his family fled from the Khmer Rouge. The former Disneyland cast member received a bachelor's in Business Administration, Accounting, Business & Entrepreneurship from Chapman in 2006. He's now a financial planner for e-commerce company OneStop.
The private Orange university is where Hour met Isabelle Du, but they were just friends for eight years before they got together romantically two and half years ago. She was born and raised in San Jose, where her family settled after the Vietnam War. She became a model who worked with Tresemme, Wet Seal, Mossimo, Coffee Bean, Elle, FHM and Cosmopolitan. She went on to live in Asia for four years, during which she was the the lead in the Vietnamese soap opera The Female Bodyguard.
