Mario Alberto Flores, Parolee Gang Member, Wanted in Oct. 18 Anaheim Murder

While I was away last week, the Anaheim Police Department disclosed a suspect is being sought in the Oct. 18 murder of 38-year-old resident Angel Jesus Lopez Valladares (corrected from Balladares).

A search is under way for Mario Alberto Flores, 28, according to Anaheim Police Lt. Tim Schmidt, who released a mugshot of the “documented gang member” and a shot of his 1985 blue Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Four men argued with and beat Valladres before he was shot to death in the 600 block of East Eton Place, according to Schmidt. Three suspects are scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 15 on charges of murder with gang and street terrorism sentencing enhancements: Jose Enrique Canul, 29, Alberto Canul Robles, 27, and Joel Avila, 19.

Flores, who was on parole at the time of the slaying, is nicknamed “Happy” but he is considered armed and dangerous, having a history of drug dealing and possession of guns, Schmidt said.

The fugitive was further described as 5-foot-8, 215 pounds with black hair, brown eyes, the letters “SA” tattooed on his neck and a star stamped below his left ear. He has family in Anaheim, Santa Ana and Salt Lake City, and the Monte Carlo he was last seen driving had a California license plate of 519538W.
