ORIGINAL POST, JAN. 8, 6:32 A.M.: Clear a space in that special place in hell: A 39-year-old Placentia man who had been accused of beating, stabbing and burning cigarettes into a 5-year-old boy in the care of his girlfriend pleaded guilty Tuesday to some of the charges against him.
Carmen William Iacullo II is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 24 after copping to felony corporal injury on a child and a sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury.

Felony charges of torture and child abuse and endangerment, with a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily harm, were dismissed against Iacullo, who had moved in with the girlfriend a few months before the boy was abused over a five-day period in June 2011.
Iacullo was looking at up to six years in prison based on a conviction on all the charges originally filed against him, prosecutors said at the time. The Orange County district attorney's office had alleged Iacullo punched the boy, beat him with a wooden kitchen utensil, burned him with cigarettes and a lighter, and stabbed him with scissors or pliers.
When Placentia police officers arrested Iacullo around that time, he allegedly had the child hide under a bed so his injuries would not be visible. The girlfriend, Lori Louisa Pincus, also kept the boy out of school so no one would see his injuries.
The pair were found out when Pincus left the boy alone to go visit Iacullo in jail. The kid wandered out of the residence and into the streets, where neighbors saw his injuries and called police.
Pincus, who pleaded guilty in July 2012 to the felony of being an accessory after the fact and child abuse and endangerment, is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 31.
UPDATE NO. 1, JAN. 27, 12:09 P.M.: Carmen William Iacullo was sentenced last week to 12 years in state prison.
The 36-year-old, who already has credit for 1,101 days in custody, must do 85 percent of his sentence, according to his plea deal.
Lori Louisa Pincus, who was Iacullo's girlfriend and is related to the young victim, is expected to be sentenced Friday to two years or time she has already served in custody. She testified against her former boyfriend, according to prosecutors.
UPDATE NO. 2, JAN. 31, 3:40 P.M.: As expected, Carmen William Iacullo's girlfriend Lori Louisa Pincus was sentenced today to two years in prison, essentially time served.
Orange County Superior Court Judge Thomas Goethals also ordered Pincus to stay away from the young victim, who it was disclosed is her now 8-year-old son, for 10 years.
The boy's maternal grandmother, who adopted him, does not want her daughter to have any contact with the boy, it was revealed in court today, City News Service reports.
Pincus pleaded for a lifting of the restraining order sooner, but Goethals said, “This is a serious case” and “I'm going to err on the side that this boy is protected.” He warned Pincus that if she tries to defy the protective order, it will “kill” any chance of him ever modifying it. That would also violate her probation, according to the judge.
Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Duke disclosed the youngster has been in therapy for several years and that his therapist also objects to any contact with Pincus.
