Mr. Moxley, thank you for following the Carona story. Your article is superb. We met Carona at a victim's press conference early in his sheriff's career, and we immediately disliked him. When the truth about him finally came out, we were not surprised. Not only was he a creep, but he also surrounded himself with department sycophants, political and business leaders who are still hanging around.

Question: What is the source of the money spent on his defense? We understand a hotshot team of lawyers are supposedly defending him out of the goodness of their hearts, but we think there is more to the story. Who is paying the defense to keep Carona from talking? Thank you again.

I'm a little miffed you didn't get further into Margaritaville with your answer [Gustavo Arellano's ¡Ask a Mexican! Jan. 14]. Skirting the bulk of his argument only makes his assertions seem more credible, but then you went all horticulturist with your cactus/agave question. Please, Mexican, what gives?

To Wasting Away In Margaritaville, fajitas aren't Mexican. They're one of those "Mexican" foods, like those freakishly large nachos with sour cream and chives. They don't come from the motherland, but man! Are they delicious!

Thank you for the back story on Larry J. Cano and his rise as a restaurateur [Gustavo Arellano's "The Big Enchilada," Jan. 7]. This is the reason why I read OC Weekly: to get a look at what's behind the headline for a more insightful look. Sometimes, it's pleasant; sometimes, it's shocking. Thank you for bringing it to us.

I might decide to go into El Torito the next time I drive by my favorite local one on Yorba Linda Boulevard and Kraemer in Placentia. Not really a fan of the food these days, but I do admire and respect this man's success story, especially the P-51 Mustang bit. Thank you for shedding some light on a restaurant chain I grew up with as a kid, don't go to anymore, but perhaps might start stopping by for a taquito or perhaps Taco Tuesday again.
