Letters From OC Weekly Readers

Megan, thanks so much for your story on the OCA and amateur astronomy in Southern California [Megan Brescini’s “Star Lords,” April 2].
It was very thoroughly done. I am a life member and was president several times during the ’70s and ’80s and saw the great organization grow from 35 to 800 members!

Great article [R. Scott Moxley’s “The Fall & Rise of Bill Hunt,” April 2]. I have seen the candidates in open forums, and [Bill] Hunt has answers. [Sheriff Sandra] Hutchens and the other guy remind me of a stumped SpongeBob and Patrick! They should go pick their belly buttons in retirement!

I don’t know about you, but this guy scares me. His rants and attitude are reminiscent of Adolf Hitler.

Bill Hunt has proven he has integrity and fortitude—he is the only one who had [the] courage to stand up to [Mike] Carona’s unethical behavior when everyone else looked the other way. He will help restore Orange County to its greatness! Another vote for Bill Hunt!

If Craig Hunter is such a great choice for OC Sheriff, why hasn’t the Anaheim Chief of Police or the Anaheim Police Association endorsed him? What do they know that we don’t?

I can’t wait to see one of these 800-year-olds get taken to county for driving on the wrong side of the road. Of course it would never happen, but it would be nice. There is no winner in this election. We all lose.

Good game, via ocweekly.com

It’s time to elect Bill Hunt, a true oath keeper!

Joe Arpaio is a fucking nimrod, and the citizens of Maricopa County are getting tired of his shit. I guess Orange County better buckle in if Hunt becomes the next sheriff. OC is no Maricopa County. The lawsuits will begin flowing in by the busload. What a mess.

Oh my, via ocweekly.com

Hutchens is an LA bureaucrat and former 10-year Democrat who has publicly stated that she is fashioning Orange County Sheriff’s Department into the image of the LA Sheriff’s Department. If that elitist attitude isn’t enough for you, the appointed import is not averse to spying on elected officials, intimidating persons from exercising their First Amendment right before a public body because those persons were there to criticize her—and then denying that any of that occurred. The constitutional right to bear arms is also a problem for Hutchens. It is not a right to be had by the “little people.” It is no wonder she has a problem with states’ rights. After all, it is her plan to turn all of our local jails into Federal Detention Centers to house criminal illegal aliens. To make this happen, she is early-releasing criminals into our streets now. Send the carpetbagger back to LA where she clearly belongs.

If I wanted to read a Minuteman column, I would do so [¡Ask a Mexican! “Special Minuteman Project Edition,” April 2]. This might have appeared to be funny and a good idea on paper, but in the end? Boring and a waste of my time.

Gustavo, many kudos for presenting a very different viewpoint without mocking it.

Hey, come on. What’s this slur against my tierra natal, East LA? Does he advocate installing high fences around my barrio?

So often people are rude to kitchen staff and waitresses [Hey, You! “Go Cook Yourselves!” April 2]. Why is it so difficult to be decisive and stick to it, be fair and tip, be considerate and thoughtful? If you had to do the work, you, I am certain, would be upset if I was the one treating you this way! Good article! I am with you!

Former Waitress, via ocweekly.com

Wait until they are OLD ladies! Then they will be twice or even three times as rude, annoying and entitled, and won’t hesitate at all to openly give you verbal abuse! Have fun!

I guess this means it’s open season on our children as long as the perpetrator holds a position of power [R. Scott Moxley’s “Judge Goes Easy On CHP Pervert,” March 26]? It stands to reason that this former CHP officer is many times more of a threat than the average person due to his knowledge of law-enforcement procedure and the law itself. What if this was his neighbor’s child and the parents tried to prosecute? What would they have been up against? These types of predators are infinitely more dangerous than the average offender, and the punishment should have reflected that.

F****** Amazing!, via ocweekly.com
