Letters From OC Weekly Readers
KEEP ’EM PEPPERATED
I bought the Gringo Bandito sauce last year at a show [on the] “This Shit Is Fucked Up Tour” in Dallas, Texas, and wow [Gustavo Arellano’s “Hot Licks,” March 5]! The sauce is awesome! I’m Hispanic, and I live right across the border, and trust me, I know about salsas, especially homemade salsa, and this one really does hit the spot. And yes, I agree with Dexter Holland—it is like a party in your mouth. Good job, Dexter! Love the music and love the salsa. You got some great talent, compadre. Keep it up!

I love Gringo Bandito hot sauce. I order it a case at a time. Best I have ever tasted! Good on everything!

WHEN ‘SHE SAID SHE WAS 18’ ACTUALLY WORKS
Props to Christian Jensen’s legal aide for helping him to pick out a bunch of retarded-ass jurors [R. Scott Moxley’s Moxley Confidential, “Victimless Crime,” March 5]. This is a shame! Only in OC!

It appears the Orange County district attorney’s office is struggling with adding “conviction” notches on its prosecution belt nowadays. With budget cuts, it is odd the DA has enough in his budget to finance the retrial in the John Stuart Moses case and also felt it was crucial in the interests of justice to appeal Superior Court Judge Richard King’s ruling, which the appellate court upheld in the unpublished decision dated March 4, 2010.

Thank you, Edwin [Edwin Goei’s “Choice Sophy’s,” March 5]. I always visit Sophy’s whenever I am in Long Beach. Love the beef jerky, sadao, sweet and sour sauce, and grilled catfish. Sophy’s somlor machu kroeung is as good as my mother’s dish. Can’t wait to visit it again!

Thanks, Edwin, for putting Sophy’s Restaurant on the map for the adventurous diners out there who have no idea of what Cambodian food dishes are all about. The French already acknowledge the Khmer cuisine, and now it is time for the Americans to give it a try.

The girlfriend and I were incredibly disappointed when Sophy’s moved, as it was the only restaurant within a few blocks of our place that was actually any good and reasonably priced. We’ve eaten there a few times since, and frankly, the charm is gone. The new space is much, much too big and lacking the same cozy-neighborhood vibe of the former. And considering we now have to drive to get there, it’s not someplace we eat much anymore.

There is a word that will keep the Bible and personalities out of the job-advancement formula, and that word is UNION [Hey, You! “It’s Bring Your Invisible Friend to Work Day!” March 5]!

I can hear your boss now: “The Lord Jesus has just spoke to me! He hast told thou that a 40-hour week is not enough! Thou must toil 60 hours a week to receive thy Lord’s blessing! Thou must also tithe 10 percent of your earnings to me, your master. So sayeth the Lord!” Also, it’s a good thing you wrote this anonymously. These God freaks are big on revenge. If you named names, you might just end up dead or, at the least, have your reputation smeared. (So sayeth the Lord!)

Since you write about your boss in the past tense, you should now feel free to tell him your version of “the truth.” Instead, you choose to sound off in an anonymous forum.

This is so flippin’ true. It blows my mind how many mindless people there are in OC (or the world). If any one of them actually picked up the Bible and read each and every page, they would see just how ridiculous it is. Instead, they listen to bits that their minister will read and be content with that. It is scary that, in this age, they are still reading words that were written thousands of years ago by people who thought the world was flat. They need to see there is far more evil and hate in it than good.

DOUBLE, DOUBLE, PAPER OR PLASTIC?
Is Milo Shiff still an employee of Ralphs [Spencer Kornhaber’s “Toil & Trouble,” Feb. 26]? He should be fired. Ralphs, please do not spend any more time or money on this bozo. Get rid of him, or take him off the floor with the public.
Murrell, via ocweekly.com
Kudos to Milo for standing up for his rights. I myself have been worshiping squirrels for many years now, and yet my attempts to eradicate the offensive and derisive characterizations of my deities by the likes of Hanna-Barbera and Walt Disney have so far been fruitless. We all need to be a little more sensitive.
