Leak at San Onofre May Bring Summer Blackouts

Download the Flashlight iPhone app, or if you're old-school, get out the scented Bath & Bodyworks candles. Orange County may be in store for the Summer of Rolling Blackouts, thanks to ongoing troubles at San Onofre.

Reactors at the nuclear plant have been out of service since Jan. 31 after a ruptured tube leaked radioactive steam into the air. According to the Wall Street Journal, a heat wave may force officials to instigate rolling blackouts to prevent uncontrolled power outages. These blackouts typically last 15 to 30 minutes at a time, not long enough to hugely impact your plans but long enough to be super annoying when you're trying to find out who won American Idol

Still, we'll take darkness over mysterious radiation any day.
