A 54-year-old Costa Mesa man made his initial court appearance Monday on felony charges of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old female relative, but Laing Lagmay Romua's arraignment was rescheduled to Wednesday.

Romua, who was arrested Thursday, at last word was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
According to documents filed in court by police seeking a protective order, Romua allegedly took photos of the girl while she was nude and committed lewd acts between Oct. 24, 2012, and June 29, 2014. Investigators recovered images from his cell phone, police claim.
Romua is charged with two counts of oral copulation of an underage victim and one count each of oral copulation or sexual penetration involving a child younger than 10, committing a forcible lewd act on a child, using an underage person for obscene matter and possession of child pornography.
