Manuel Ramos, the fired Fullerton cop acquitted in the 2011 beating death of Kelly Thomas, is in trouble with the law again. His former chums at the Fullerton police department responded to a family disturbance call around 2 p.m. on July 16 at the 3600 block of West Oak Avenue in the city.

Ramos later got booked at his old workplace for allegedly assaulting a woman. The high-profile domestic violence arrest remained hush-hush until a source tipped local activist Stephan Baxter that the dirty ex-cop had been cuffed once more.

"It shows a propensity for violence," Ron Thomas, Kelly's father, tells the Weekly. "He's a punk, a thug and a violent person. He just doesn't give a damn!"

Though the arrest happened in mid-July, ABC7 first reported it only yesterday afternoon. With a big civil trial lined up this month over his son's death, Thomas speculates that it's not a coincidence. "They want it as quiet as possible," he says of the city. "Ramos being arrested isn't going to make him look good."

Upcoming Events

The 41-year-old former Fullerton cop posted $10,000 bail and the Orange County District Attorney's office is looking into the incident. The OCDA, of course, brought charges against Ramos once before for second-degree murder after the cop told Thomas, "See these fists? They are getting ready to fuck you up," before he and five other Fullerton police officers went on to do just that.

Ramos has had trouble staying away from the spotlight in Fullerton since his acquittal. Angry diners at Denny's shamed him out of the restaurant last year. The Weekly snapped some pics of him coaching Pony League baseball of all things the following month.

C'mon, Manny! First you get arrested for beating a homeless man suffering from schizophrenia to death. Now you're alleged to have assaulted a woman? Who's next? Someone your own size? Given your arrest record and being a George Zimmerman-like flabby wab, that seems unlikely as hell!
