Joshua Campos Allegedly Ga-Ga Over Canned Baby Formula, Tied to 6 Thefts in 10 Days

A 21-year-old guy has been popped for allegedly stealing more than $1,000 in canned baby formula from three different Irvine stores.

Joshua Campos was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary Thursday, according to an Irvine Police statement that indicates officers who saw him surveillance video from the recent thefts recognized him from a prior arrest for baby formula napping on October 11.

“On Oct. 11, Campos was stopped by an Irvine patrol officer as he left the area of a shopping center,” reads a statement for Lt. Julia Engen, the Irvine Police Department (IPD) spokeswoman. “During the course of the traffic stop, the officer found approximately $1,600 in stolen baby formula in his vehicle.”

The formula was linked to two commercial burglaries in Irvine and one in Orange before Campos was arrested for alleged possession of stolen property. He bailed out of jail the next day and was still out of custody on Oct. 21, when he is believed to have committed the three additional burglaries for baby formula in Irvine, according to Engen.

Detectives contacted people who know Campos, encouraging him to contact the Irvine Police Department, and just before 7 p.m. Thursday he turned himself in and was arrested for the three burglaries on Oct. 21, Engen said.

He went to Orange County Jail and was booked in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Hopefully that baby's getting fed.
