Jose Rama Campoverde, Lewd Anaheim Pastor Who Preyed on Girls, Gets Six Years
An Anaheim church pastor was sentenced to 1.5 years in state prison for each girl he assaulted or performed lewd acts on.
Since there were four girls--ages 13-16--that means six years behind bars for Jose Rama Campoverde of Ministerio Cristo Vive.
The word of the Lord.
We previously told you about this joker here.
The 46-year-old pleaded guilty to one felony count of lewd acts on a child under 14, five felony counts of lewd acts on a child, two misdemeanor counts of child annoyance, and a sentencing enhancement allegation for lewd acts on multiple children.
At his sentencing in Santa Ana yesterday, Campoverde was sent off with the words of one victim, who said she now suffers from trust issues, and another victim's mother, who said his actions have caused long-lasting effects.
Besides the prison time, Pastor Jose must register for life as a sex offender. Here's why:
- In July 2004, he was watching a movie with a 14-year-old girl at the church, where he kissed her kissed her on the cheek. That same month, while teaching her how to drive, he put his hand over her hand on the stick shift and caressed it. He grabbed her hand and put it back on the stick shift when she pulled away. In March 2009, when the same girl was 17, he hugged her and touched her butt.
- In April 2007, he put his hand down the shirt of a 13-year-old girl, who would go on through September of that year having the pastor kiss her, hug her and touch her butt.
- During a March 2009 visit to the home of a 15-year-old girl he met through the church, he hugged her from behind, pressed his body up against hers, kissed her on the cheek and touched her upper thigh, near her butt.
- In May 2009, he picked up a 16-year-old girl from school and caressed her cheek and massaged her leg and arm. He then kissed her and tried to touch her crotch.
The last girl was the first girl to report being assaulted by Pastor Jose to an Anaheim Police. She spilled there may be other victims, who came forward during the subsequent investigation.
