Jonah Mowry and Mom Peggy Sue Join Daniel Mendez's Mother at County Anti-Bullying Event

It's been quite the trip to international fame for Jonah Mowry, the Lake Forest teen whose courageous video about being bullied went viral and caught the attention of everyone from Lady Gaga to OC Human Relations.

What about his mom? We'll get Peggy Sue Mowry's views about all this at a county event Wednesday evening in North Tustin.

Parents, children and experts share their experience with and strategies against bullying at the Safe Communities event from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Foothill High School Event Center at 19251 Dodge Ave., Tustin.

Besides Jonah and Peggy Sue Mowry, scheduled speakers include:

* Anna Mendez, executive director of the National Association of People Against Bullying, which she and her family started after her 16-year-old son son, Daniel Mendez, committed suicide because of being bullied relentlessly. She is the author of If These Halls Could Talk:The Daniel Mendez Story;

* Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Jay Myers, who will discuss social trends and bullying;

* Orange County Supervisor Todd Spitzer;

* Tustin Mayor Al Murray;

* Mary Hale, director of Behavioral Health Services, Orange County Health Care Agency.
