Jered Weaver will receive the first Nick Adenhart Award during tonight's game at the Big A against the Oakland A's.
Bestowing the award will be charged with emotion. Tonight also marks the one-year anniversary of Adenhart's death after pitching six scoreless innings at Anaheim Stadium.
The 22-year-old rookie, Henry Pearson and Courtney Stewart were killed and Jon Wilhite was seriously injured in a traffic crash blamed on Andrew Thomas Gallo, who awaits a murder trial because he was allegedly drunk and had past DUI convictions.

The Angels dedicated the 2009 season to Adenhart and poignantly honored his Big A memorial moments after clinching the American League West crown.
The team created the annual award to honor Adenhart's memory.
