Jeffery Enriquez I.D.'d as 18 y.o. Man Shot Dead in Santa Ana: Update

ORIGINAL POST, JAN. 24, 11:49 A.M.: A man was found shot to death in Santa Ana early today.

Police had received a call around 1 a.m. about a body down in the 1400 block of South Standard Avenue, an area known for gang activity, according to Santa Ana Police Sgt. Richard Weber.

But when contacted by City News Service, Weber conceded it's not yet been determined if this was a gang shooting.

The man was not identified pending notification of next of kin.

Homicide detectives are collecting clues as to what prompted the man's demise. Anyone with information is asked to contact them at 714.245.8390. That's also the number tipsters call to be eligible for monetary rewards the Santa Ana Police Department offers for information leading to the arrest of gang homicide or felony gang assault suspects.

UPDATE, JAN. 29, 1:30 P.M.: The 18-year-old found shot to death in the 1400 block of South Standard, Santa Ana, on Jan. 24, has been positively identified as Jeffery Enriquez of Santa Ana, according to police.

Homicide detectives are still asking that anyone with information about the shooting contact their office at 714.245.8390 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1.855.TIP.OCCS.
