Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Retired MMA Fighter, Apologizes for Latest Brush With Law: Update

See the update at the end of this post with “Mayhem” Miller apologizing on his website.

ORIGINAL POST, AUG. 14, 12:33 P.M.: Former mixed martial arts fighter Jason “Mayhem” Miller is in trouble with the law again.

The 32-year-old was picked up by Orange County sheriff's deputies over the weekend for allegedly roughing up his girlfriend during an argument over a text message on his phone. Deputies say she was left with bruises on her limbs and cuts on her face.

Miller was reportedly released from custody early Monday after posting a $50,000 bond. The domestic violence is alleged to have actually happened Aug. 3 but was not reported to the sheriff's department until last week.

Mayhem had been arrested by deputies from the same agency on Aug. 13, 2012, after being found naked on the couch of a Mission Viejo church that had just been vandalized.

The charges were dropped after Mission Hills Church pastor Brian Anderson came forward in Miller's defense.

What is it about August? Mayhem was arrested in August 2011 in North Carolina after allegedly putting his sister in a headlock and refusing to let her go when she wanted to leave a house party.

What is it about sheriff's deputies coming to the rescue? Miller's sister was able to escape and went to the Chatham County sheriff's department, whose deputies arrested him for simple assault and false imprisonment. Mayem later explained he was trying to stop her from driving and that the charges were “over with.”

Miller, who we reported having a Twitter war with Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White shortly before the UFC dropped him as a fighter in May 2012, said at the time Mayhem was fired over “just some dumb bullshit” that happened backstage at UFC 146 (* Hat tip to Inquisitor.com).

Speaking of bullshit, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound brawler victimizing two defenseless women (loved ones at that) and a defenseless house of worship? He continued training after leaving the fight game for a broadcasting career that has included stints on Sirius satellite radio's The Jason Ellis Show, ringside at King of the Cage matches and as host of Bully Beatdown on MTV and MTV2.

As Dana White reportedly put it after firing Mayhem, “If you want to be a clown do that stuff on your reality show.”

UPDATE, AUG. 15, 11:26 A.M.: Jason “Mayhem” Miller, who apparently show shares Snoop's new last name of “Lion,” has apologized for his recent actions via mayhemmiller.com:

Can anyone out there translate that last line before the byline?

A day earlier he'd tweeted (all CAPS his): “TABLOID SOCIETY.” Don't know if that's a commentary on what he's lamenting, contributing to or both. But whatever he means, we hope he emerges better from this most-challenging part of his life.
