A private tennis instructor was arrested Thursday afternoon for alleged lewd conduct with one of his 13-year-old students. Jarrid Thomas Baldogo, 29, is believed to have had inappropriate physical contact with the student between February and April of this year, but police fear there may be other victims because he's a longtime local tennis instructor.
The 13-year-old's parents found text message on the student's phone and informed Irvine Police on Wednesday, and detectives investigated for a day before arresting Baldogo at his residence in the Westpark area of Irvine around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Lt. Julia Engen, the department's spokeswoman.
She adds there is no information indicating additional victims but notes "Baldogo has had access to children for a number of years as he has worked as a tennis instructor." He'd provided instruction in the Woodbridge area of Irvine before offering private lessons 2.5 years ago, seeking students over the Internet.
Anyone with information that can help investigators is asked to contact Irvine Police Detective Jonathan Sampson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 949.724.7179.
