A Santa Ana woman, who pleaded guilty to a manslaughter count last month for slicing her husband to death after a 2010 Easter party fight, was sentenced today to seven years in state prison.

A sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a

Maria Vallejo, the dead man's sister, told the court before sentencing that
her brother was loved by everyone who knew him, she misses him terribly
and is still unable to understand why he was murdered, according to a statement from prosecutors.

The couple had a verbal argument over a party they had attended the night of April 4 before Hernandez stuck a knife into his thigh. He landed on the ground with a thud that woke up sleeping family members who found Vallejo bleeding profusely. They called 9-1-1 and tried to stop the bleeding, but the man died at the scene.
