James Roberts III, Cop Accused of Raping Wife and Girlfriend, Fired by HBPD

James Roberts III, the cop who is accused of raping and terrorizing his wife and girlfriend, has been fired by the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Annie Burris has the scoop in the Orange County Register.

Ironically, while looking at her online report, my eyes were drawn to Roberts' mugshot being stacked atop an advertisement with three smiling ladies posing with cocktails.

The caption? “Endless possibilities.”

Hopefully, that won't give Roberts any ideas.

As we blogged here, the then-33-year-old was slapped in September with 17 charges, including false imprisonment, threats, domestic battery, aggravated assault,
dissuading a witness by force or threat and vandalism.

New
accusations of spousal rape by force, sodomy by force and
forcible rape were filed in March, as we blogged here.

Roberts, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges, has a preliminary hearing court date on April 28.

Burris reports that Roberts was fired April 15 after an internal investigation about the charges. The probe continues to look at other department employees in relation to Roberts' conduct, according to the article.

Included is this excerpt that is reportedly from an email sent to the daily by police spokesman Lt. Russell Reinhart:

“The purpose is to maintain the public's trust and to have a thorough
and complete investigation. If
any misconduct is sustained, appropriate discipline, up to and
including termination, will be the result.”
