Five years ago, the pope was Catholic.

Five years ago, a program named E.R. was the top-rated television show.

Five years ago, a program named Frasierwon the Emmy for best comedy show.

Five years ago, only 98 percent of U.S. households owned at least one television.

Five years ago, the Dow Jones closed at an all-time high.

Five years ago, murder was down 7 percent, robbery was down 7 percent, forcible rape was down 6 percent, and aggravated assault was down 3 percent from the previous year.
