There remains many questions for the company that owns the Ducks and operates the Honda Center. They are still unanswered as UNITE HERE Local 11, the union the represents the workers, has requested a meeting with AAM that has failed to materialize. The company has only responded with a statement saying in effect that it is "evaluating its range of food service options." In the meantime, the fate of some 400 current food stand workers the union represents hangs in the balance.
"I'm out here because I need to keep my job," says cashier Trena Littlejohn in a union press release. "My kids were practically raised in the Honda Center," Littlejohn said. "We're huge fans. My daughter has a room full of Ducks memorabilia. This is a real threat to my family's existence."
The workers are hoping that Ducks fans will sympathize with those who serve up food and keep the beer cups filled during games like tonight. If that's the case, supportive signatures await.
