Gustavo's Latest “Orange County Line” Commentary for KCRW: On Anaheim's Unlikeliest Radical, Mayor Tom Tait!

Last summer, as Anaheim burned, I praised mayor Tom Tait for a job well-done despite his troglodytic party (can you imagine if Deborah Pauly was Anaheim's alcalde? Shudder). In the year since, Tait has shocked everyone by forcefully standing on the side of those who want to make Anaheim elections a district thing, despite the GOP's aversion to the idea. Why is Tait doing this? That was the subject of my latest “Orange County Line” commentary for KCRW-FM 89.9.

Host Steve Chiotakis asked why I think Tait is doing what he's doing, and I told him I really do believe that it comes from him feeling that district elections are the right thing to do. The other possibility that I didn't mention was that this is part of Tait's bigger war against Anaheim's Sith Lord, former mayor Curt Pringle–why did the two split up? Here's to hoping Tait did it for the right reasons–I would love to ask Hizzoner, but Tait is scared of me and won't talk. Anyhoo, enjoy!
