Grandpa’s Gotta Gun! 62-year-old Accused of Armed Robbery of Diamond Rings at Brea Mall

A 62-year-old man is accused of pulling a gun on an employee and fleeing the Kevin Jewelers at Brea Mall with five diamond rings.

A man asked an employee on the evening of Jan. 27 to show him diamond solitaire rings, but as one was being removed from the display case, the supposed customer lifted his shirt, pulled a handgun from his waistband and told the worker to hand over that ring and four others in the case. The Brea Police Department was called around 6:45 p.m.

Surveillance video and still images from the robbery were shared by various media outlets. Police are not yet saying if that is what led them to suspect Warren, who was arrested without incident following a car stop around 9 a.m. Thursday near Brea Boulevard and Fir Street.

Jail records indicate the Brea resident is being held on $50,000 bail.

Detectives claim Warren may be responsible for similar jewelry store robberies in Orange, Riverside and Los Angeles counties over the past year.
