Casting calls are 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Irvine Bowl Park, 650 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach. Prospective volunteers
will be measured and photographed, enjoy refreshments and meet the behind-the-scenes pageant staff.

The only requirement is an ability to stand still in a pose for 90 seconds. Any size, shape and age will do. No theater experience is necessary. You also have to be available for all performances. Next summer's pageant, “Eat, Drink and Be Merry,” runs 8:30 nightly from July 7 to Aug. 31. A gala benefit performance will be held on Aug. 28.

“It takes over 500 volunteers, both onstage and behind-the-scenes, to put on the pageant,” explains director Diane Challis Davy. “We wouldn't have a show without our volunteers!  They have so much fun backstage, volunteers return year after year to participate.”

Volunteers are also needed for the wardrobe, make up and headdress
departments, as well as cast area coordinators and refreshment servers,
among other positions. Students can earn credit towards community
service requirements.
