Glenn B. Stearns, Founder of Santa Ana Real Estate Lender, Dragged into NorCal Fraud Case

The founder of Santa Ana-based mortgage lending firm Stearns Lending has been dragged into a lawsuit filed in Marin County Superior Court claiming a former loan officer sent more than 200 clients to a refinancing specialist who defrauded them out of thousands of dollars–and who just happened to be the loan officer's husband. Robert J. Gilles of Novato claims Glenn B. Stearns of Newport Beach owes him $8,750 for “defrauding” his family.

Gilles previously sued Glenn Stearns' company because Heidi Marks was the loan officer who worked in Stearns' Rohnert Park office, which is where Gilles says he went to refinance his mother's house. Gilles claimed he had no idea the refinancing specialist Marks sent him to, Miguel Lopez of Mortgage Modifiers in Petaluma, was Marks' husband. Lopez is the subject of an ongoing fraud investigation by the state Attorney General.

An amended complaint that shows Glenn Stearns has been added as a defendant was sent to the Weekly by Gilles. After his previous filing against Stearns Lending, the company claimed Gilles was never a Stearns client.
