Garden Grove Man's Prized Possession, Restored 1934 Ford Coupe, Stolen, Then Recovered

It was a difficult week for Garden Grove resident Robert Slovick. On Sunday morning, he awoke to find his 1934 3-window Ford Coupe, one he had poured countless dollars and time into rebuilding and customizing, was gone.

Saturday night, it was sitting safely in front of his home, inside an enclosed trailer. The next morning, both the trailer and car were gone.

Slovick said the car was worth $250,000. He told officers he had spent $75,000 restoring it.
On Wednesday, Garden Grove police and Orange County Auto Theft Task Force detectives were making a follow-up check of an area auto-body shop, a few miles from Slovick's home, when they discovered the undamaged stolen vehicle beneath a sheet.

Police have taken body-shop employee Mehrzad Sangar, 53, into custody for possession of stolen property and are holding him on $20,000 bail. Sangar, of Westminster, is the only suspect in custody at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
