Fung Yoon, OC Homicide No. 62: Killed by Girlfriend's Ex-Husband, Who Later Killed Himself

A wild, cross-county shooting rampage Sunday morning ended in Los Angeles' Koreatown, where gunman Young Choi shot and killed himself.

Shortly before that, the 54-year-old LA resident shot and wounded another man in Koreatown.

And, around 4:15 a.m.–90 minutes before Choi took his own life–he shot and killed Fung Yoon, 55, in Anaheim.

Yoon was reportedly the boyfriend of
Choi's ex-wife.

Choi was already gone when Anaheim officers arrived at an apartment in the 1100 block of North West
Street, where Yoon was lying on the floor with several gunshot wounds. Cops immediately administered CPR and paramedics followed up, but Yoon died at a local hospital shortly after 5 a.m.

Police say Choi argued with his ex- before killing the man. The woman managed to flee the apartment unharmed.

Around 5:30 a.m., Los Angeles officers responded to a shooting of Ick Choi on the street in the 1100 block
of Irolo Street near Koreatown. As cops pulled up to the 58-year-old victim, they heard a gunshot nearby. They then found Young Choi dead in the street of what's believed to be a
self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities do not believe the two Chois were related, reports the Los Angeles Times, which quotes an LAPD spokesman saying the men had been friends for several years before experiencing a falling out about a year ago.
