Eneiga Beltran, OC Homicide No. 3: Apparent Murder-Suicide Victim

If there's a special place in hell for men who kill the mothers of their children, there must be a basement below it for men who leave their 11-year-old sons orphans.

And if such a place exists, 39-year-old Hugo Gonzalez of Anaheim is stewing there now.

The last time Eneiga Beltran is believed to have been seen alive
by anyone other than her killer was at a parent-teacher conference the morning of Jan. 28 at her son's Anaheim school. Yep, that's Gonzalez's boy, too.

That
afternoon, sheriff's deputies found the body of 32-year-old Beltran in the
back seat of a 2007 GMC Yukon parked in a Stanton Motel 6 lot. Deputies found Gonzalez's body in a room he'd rented at the motel at 7450 Katella Ave. for about a week, moving in
after leaving Beltran and his boy at their Anaheim home.

He died from what investigators are convinced was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. Deputies had been called to the motel by the manager, who reported seeing a man acting suspiciously near the black Yukon.

The county coroner has not yet released Beltran's cause of death. Meanwhile, the sheriff's department says it may never know how Gonzalez managed to get her to the motel from the school.
