Edgar Jovany Campos, 15 y.o. Victim of Nov. 7 Drive-by, Dies So Cops Now Have a Homicide

Homicide detectives are turning to the public for help in finding the shooter of 15-year-old Edgar Jovany Campos, who was shot Nov. 7 in the 400 block of North Laurel in Santa Ana and died early Thursday at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange.

Campos was walking in the area around 6:40 p.m. when someone in a passing vehicle opened fire, striking the teen once in the upper torso and then driving off in an unknown direction, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. No description of the vehicle or shooter(s) is available, cops add.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics took the Santa Ana boy to UCI Medical Center for treatment. He was taken off life support early Thursday, and what had been an attempted murder investigation became a murder probe, according to police.
