Dustin Lee Morgan of Texas Accused of 2008 Sexual Assault of Santa Ana Girl Under Age 10

A Texarkana, Texas, man is scheduled to be arraigned this morning for allegedly breaking into the Santa Ana home of a girl under age 10 and sexually assaulting her.

U.S. Marshals arrested Dustin Lee Morgan in Texarkana on March 26, after DNA evidence from the 2008 assault was further examined and the 36-year-old was linked to the crime, according to the Orange County District Attorney's office (OCDA).

Morgan was extradited back to Orange County on March 31, and he is scheduled to be arraigned at 10 a.m. at the Central Jail in Santa Ana on charges that could send him to state prison for 25 years to life with a conviction, the OCDA says.

After breaking into the Santa Ana home around 5 a.m. on Feb. 8, 2008, an intruder walked into a sleeping girl's bedroom, pushed her face down after she woke up and covered her mouth to prevent her from making any noise as he sexually assaulted her. She still managed to scream, which prompted the attacker to flee through a sliding glass door from the victim's bedroom to a balcony.

The Santa Ana Police Department was contacted that night, and the investigation produced the DNA evidence that was recovered at the scene.

Morgan is charged with one felony count of performing lewd acts upon a child under 14 years old, one felony count of sexual penetration of a child under 10 years old and a sentencing enhancement allegation for performing lewd acts on a child under 14 during the commission of a burglary.
