The Orange Police Department holds a DUI/driver's
license checkpoint from 8 tonight until 3 a.m. Saturday at 1800
W. Chapman Ave.
Officers will be on the lookout for motorists who've been boozing, drugging or driving without an operators permit.

Tustin cops will be up to the same thing at an undisclosed location from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday.

Indeed, county law enforcement agencies are stepping up the pressure on rummies behind the wheel through Labor Day.

For instance, if you thinking of snaking out of Orange tonight and getting your pre-driving drink on in Dana Point, San Clemente and/or San Juan Capistrano, be aware that the Orange County Sheriff's Department, which patrols those slices of paradise, is stepping up enforcement against drunks on roadways there. The sheriff's operation, which runs from 8 tonight until 4 a.m.
Saturday, is part of a nationwide Friday night crackdown in 10,000 police jurisdictions.

Coming up:

Speaking of dough, our men and women in blue remind that a DUI conviction can cost around $10,000, land you in jail and
result in the loss of your driver's license.
