Drake Doremus' Breathe In Wins National Distribution; Fourth-Quarter Release Set

We told you last month about Santa Ana native Drake Doremus' film Breathe In getting picked up for international distribution. Now, the other distribution shoe has dropped.

Cohen Media Group has acquired U.S. distribution rights to the drama Doremus directed and co-wrote with his childhood friend Ben York Jones, who has lived in Irvine and Corona del Mar. Deadline Hollywood gets the scoop (natch.).

Starring Guy Pearce, Amy Ryan and Felicity Jones, whose breakthrough film was the previous Doremus-Ben Jones teaming Like Crazy, Breathe In is about a British exchange student who shakes up a family in New York.

It won rave reviews at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, as had Doremus' Like Crazy, which won the Grand Jury Prize two years earlier, and Douchebag, which co-starred Ben Jones. Doremus' debut film Spooner, which Jones was essentially an extra in, made its premiere down slope from Park City in 2009 at the Slamdance.

"In a few short years, Drake Doremus has established himself as an important and exciting filmmaking voice with Like Crazy, Spooner and Douchebag, and we're thrilled to be on board for this next impressive step in his career," Gary Rubin, executive VP of Cohen Media Group, tells Deadline Hollywood.

A full theatrical release of Breathe In is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.
