Disneyland's Star Wars-ification Starts November! Will Close Part of Frontierland

Man, it didn't take long for Disneyland's Star Wars addition to get going. After the announcement a few weeks ago that the Anaheim park we love/hate was getting a Lucas-esque addition, Disney announced yesterday that the first new attractions will be making their debut this fall in November, with more to come early next year.

For the full details, check out Disney's two blog posts here and here. But the nitty gritty of it is that the Star Wars Launch Bay, Star Wars — The Adventure Continues, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, and Hyperspace Mountain (a themed take on Space Mountain) will be ready November 16 as well as some merch and food item.

The construction of the new area is going to require a few closures, however. Temporarily gone will be the Disneyland Railroad, the Rivers of America, “Fantasmic!”, Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia, Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes.

Unfortunately, there will be some permanent closures too. Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, Big Thunder Ranch Petting Farm and Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree will all close permanently January 10. With them goes the best food deal at the parks, the $20-something barbecue lunch buffet.

But hey, at least you can still stuff yourself on churros.
