Nixon first visited the park in August 1955, not long after the grand opening of Disneyland, and was presented with a key to the park at City Hall on Main Street. !). In 1959, then-Vice President Dick brought the whole Nixon clan to the ribbon cutting ceremony for the monorail. Watch as he makes an attempt to appear warm and friendly but only achieving something in between "slightly frightening" and "automaton."
