Dennis Rodman Worms His Way into Basketball's Hall of Fame

If there was a Hall of Fame for loving and leaving them like Sinatra, drunken electric boat piloting through Newport Harbor, holding never-ending parties at your Newport Beach beach house, having a helicopter land illegally on the sand next to said abode and other assorted examples of debauchery, Dennis Rodman would have been inducted on the first ballot.

There is a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, whose Class of 2011 includes none other than “The Worm.”

Joining Dennis the Rebounding Menace are: Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Chris Mullin; longtime NBA
and ABA star Artis Gilmore; Portland Trailblazers center Arvydas Sabonis; Olympic gold medalist Teresa Edwards; Harlem Globetrotter “Goose” Tatum; and Boston Celtic Tom Sanders.

No bull: Rodman's going to the hoops Hall of Fame.

Also going in are coaching legends: Tex Winter (innovator of the Bulls/Lakers' triangle offense); Philadelphia
University's Herb Magee; and Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer.

“It's just unreal,” Rodman is said to have reacted to the news.

Arguably the best rebounding forward in NBA history and the collector of five championship rings–two with the Detroit Pistons under
Chuck Daly and three with the Chicago Bulls coached by Phil
Jackson
–Rodman was asked who was responsible for his getting to the Hall.

“Me,” he answered.

The formal induction takes place this August in Springfield, Mass.

Rodman will have until then to find out if white is appropriate for a bride to wear to such ceremonies.
