Sobriety checkpoints: They aren't just for weekends anymore.
That's right, rummies, Costa Mesa Police have chosen tonight to hold a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint.
Find out the times and intersection to avoid after the jump . . .
The good times roll from 6 to 11 tonight at Bristol Street and Randolph Avenue, which you may better know as the stoplight by the LAB Anti-Mall and Memphis restaurant.
So, park at the Camp and dodge the cars into the LAB for one night, Urban Outfitter shoppers.
Blow, baby, blow!
"The department is continuing its efforts at lowering the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes locally and through the County's Avoid DUI Task Force Campaign with this DUI/Drivers License checkpoint," reads a Costa Mesa PD statement. "Personnel will be checking drivers to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as heightening awareness to the dangers of impaired driving."
The force is also partnering with cop shops across the county stepping up end-of-summer DUI enforcement, which continues through the end of Labor Day weekend and is detailed here:
"The summer months are a dangerous time of the year and your odds of being involved in an alcohol involved collision can be high," states Costa Mesa PD's release.
Yes, yes, these operations are provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
