Costa Mesa Holds DUI Checkpoint Tonight; Santa Ana Targets Motoring Rummies Saturday

The Costa Mesa Police Department is scheduled to hold a DUI/drivers license checkpoint from 8 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday somewhere in the city.

Santa Ana Police have one Saturday, from 7:30 p.m. through 1:30 a.m. Sunday, and we've got the location of that one.

It's along East Fourth Street at Breeden.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department previously announced it is running saturation patrols, where cops flood areas known for drunken driving arrests, accidents and fatalities, all month. From 8 tonight through 4 a.m. Saturday, deputies will be targeting San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point and San Clemente.

Costa Mesa also has a separate operation all month targeting places where there have been incidents involving motorcycles–whether the boozy were involved or not.

When it comes to the alcohol side, the ops are funded by California Office of Traffic Safety grants, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
