Cops Working It with Checkpoints TONIGHT, Anti-DUI Operations All Labor Day Weekend

The Tustin, Fullerton, La Habra and Santa Ana police departments hold sobriety checkpoints tonight as Orange County Avoid DUI Task Force's “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign continues through Labor Day, one of the bloodiest times on local roads.

Like the Weather, Anti-DUI Enforcement Heats Up with Checkpoints and Patrols

Only the Santa Ana checkpoint location was disclosed: in the area of 500 W. First St,, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Tustin's starts at 8 p.m. but ends at the same time as Santa Ana's. No times were given for the Fullerton and La Habra operations.

“Saturation patrols,” where officers are specially assigned to cruise for DUI drivers, are scheduled tonight in Anaheim and nightly through Saturday night in Costa Mesa, Sunday night in Santa Ana and Monday night in Fullerton and Garden Grove.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department says it will throw up spot checkpoints and run saturation patrols in its contract cities through Labor Day as well, and expect an intensified California Highway Patrol presence countywide.

Thes operations are funded through grants to all the agencies from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
