After last week's catsup edition, I figured the number of convicts and accused would taper off.
I figured wrong.
Michael Clair Glines, 51, was sentenced to almost 199 years to life in prison for molesting three girls and a boy, including a relative. The Trabuco Canyon resident, who was convicted on Oct. 27, apologized to his victims at his recent court sentencing. The children had often played with Glines' three daughters. His disgusting behavior was exposed when an 8-year-old girl told her mother she didn't want to go to a planned get together among their families because Glines ``always does something gross and embarrassing.'' Her 9-year-old brother later disclosed he'd been molested as well. Glines' attorney insisted the allegations were untrue, but jurors sided with the prosecutor who said the children had no reason to lie.
Arnold Eduardo Martinez, 34, was arraigned on charges of assaulting, kidnapping, and sexually assaulting three women near a park in Westminster. The thing is, Martinez currently resides in Florida's Blackwater Correctional Facility, where he is serving a 20-year sentence for kidnapping and sexual battery. He faces up to 28 years and eight months to life in prison if he is convicted in Santa Ana of the attacks in 2008-09, when Martinez was living in California. The attacks happened in or near Westminster's Sigler Park, where a woman was forced into a vehicle and nearly raped before she broke away and fled, a second was dragged into some bushes and punched but fought off the sexual assault and fled, and a third who was forced into a vehicle, escaped, was then dragged into some bushes, punched and had her head thrown against the ground as she screamed and fended off the sexual attack. As a condition of Martinez's 2011 Florida conviction, a DNA sample was collected that matched others from the unsolved assaults in Westminster. He was extradited to Orange County in February and is due back in court this month.
Roger Seymour Pena, 29, has been charged with molesting two young girls in Rancho Santa Margarita. Held on $1 million bail since his March 3 arrest by Orange County sheriff's deputies, Pena faces four counts of lewd acts with a child under 14, three counts of lewd acts on a child 14 or 15, and one count each of aggravated sexual assault of a child with a foreign object and aggravated sexual assault of a child younger than 14. Court records shows the first alleged crime occurred in June 2006 and the second was in May 2012.

Eric Leon Romero, 18, has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 10-year-old family friend in her home, according to Brea Police Lt. Darrin Devereux. Cops first popped the Brea resident on Feb. 23 on suspicion of lewd acts, and he posted bond to be released from jail. But further investigation uncovered an allegation of sexual acts with a child 10 years old or younger, and Romero was arrested and held this time on $1 million bail in Orange County Jail. He now faces up to life in prison if convicted of seven felony counts of lewd or lascivious acts on a child under 14. More counts are possible because the probe continues and police ask anyone with more information or victim identifications to contact Brea Police Detective Dave Wearp at 714.671.4438.
Jason Mirakian, 41, surrendered to Fullerton police after allegedly groping a woman and fleeing into a home. The Las Vegas resident touched the woman on Commonwealth Avenue near Mission Avenue and ran away, according to Fullerton Police Sgt. Kathryn Hamel, who added Mirakian came out of a residence in the 2400 block of Santa Ysabel Avenue after cops threatened to send a police dog inside after him. He was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery, residential burglary and resisting arrest.
Sean Ficquette, 33, was arrested on suspicion of a sex act on the roof of a Costa Mesa strip mall. An anonymous tipster had called cops one recent morning to say a stranger was on a roof in the 1900 block of Pomona Avenue with his pants down and masturbating. Officers who arrived and arrested Ficquette discovered he was on parole for misdemeanor drug possession, attempted robbery, burglary and using a deadly weapon. He'd received probation and a two year jail stretch.
