Colt Brennan, Quarterback Out of OC, is Off LA KISS Roster Due to “Traumatic Brain Injury”

Our March 6 cover story on LA KISS, the Arena Football League team that is partially owned by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley and will play home games at Anaheim's Honda Center, included this from writer Daniel Kohn:

“Leading the squad as quarterback will be Colt Brennan, the former Mater Dei High quarterback who went on to become NCAA's single-season leader in touchdown passes.”

What a difference five days makes; Brennan may now be out of football …

For good!

Rock Legends Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley Bring an Arena Football Team, LA Kiss, to Anaheim–and They're Already Winning

The 30-year-old slinger out of the University of Hawaii (by way of Saddleback College) informed the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that LA KISS did not give him medical clearance to play because he was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury that may end his football career.

The injury apparently did not come from the gridiron but a two-car accident in Hawaii in 2010 that resulted in Brennan, a passenger in his girlfriend's car, spending eight days in a hospital for treatment of head, ribs and collarbone injuries.

After that Brennan received the medical thumbs up to play for the Hartford Colonels of the United States Football League in 2011 and the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League in 2012.

The accident happened a month after Brennan was cut by the Oakland Raiders in September 2010. He'd spent two seasons before that as a quarterback with the Washington Redskins, who'd drafted him in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draft.

Laguna Beach-born Brennan told the Star-Advertiser that he will consult with his neurologist in Honolulu about this latest football career setback.
